We're so excited that you’ve decided to join the Wolfpack and can’t wait to see you at orientation this summer.
All enrolled students are required to complete New Student Orientation. In addition, we strongly recommend that family members complete the concurrent Family Orientation program. The cost of participation for students and families is included in the mandatory, non-refundable Transfer Student Fee charged to all new first-year students. No payment is due to New Student Programs, and the Transfer Student Fee will be included in your fall tuition bill.
Please note: By attending New Student Orientation programs, students will be responsible for paying the Transfer Student Fee whether or not they continue their enrollment at NC State University in the fall semester. This fee is non-refundable.
Student Orientation
Attendance at the orientation session is mandatory. Please review the information below prior to registering for your orientation session. Learn more by visiting the Transfer Orientation website.
Sessions begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. Students are required to attend the entire program.
Overnight housing is not included. For information on overnight accommodations, visit the Transfer Orientation website.
Students are only required to attend one orientation session. If you need to reschedule, instructions are available in your WolfPaw portal under the Orientation Event Registration Information block. Family Orientation
Family Orientation is a program that runs concurrently to New Student Orientation and is specifically designed for parents and families of transfer students. Learn more by visiting the Family Orientation website.
There is no charge for the program; however, attendance is limited to two people (not including the student). Program materials and lunch tickets are provided.
Housing for family members is not included. For information on overnight accommodations for family members, please review the Family Orientation Housing webpage.
Contact New Student Programs at new-students@ncsu.edu if your family members need to attend a session different from yours.
Who should attend Family Orientation?
Family Orientation is designed for those who will serve as a student’s primary support throughout their transition to the university.
Children and young adults are welcome to attend Family Orientation, but most of the sessions are presented in a lecture format and may not be engaging for them.
If children and young adults are in attendance, they should be supervised at all times by their family members while on campus for Family Orientation.
Guests should not expect to be with their student throughout the entire program. Most of the presentations and activities are separate.
Please visit the New Student Programs website for more information about Transfer Orientation for both new students and families. Click on the session you wish to attend to register yourself and any family members:
