    Dr. Jennine Lection is an Assistant Professor of Theriogenology in the Department of Clinical Sciences at NC State College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed both her undergraduate studies and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree at NC State University. Her educational journey continued with an internship at the Equine Medical Center of Ocala, followed by a residency in comparative theriogenology (reproductive medicine) at Cornell University. Upon completing her residency, Dr. Lection became a Diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists.

    In 2024, Dr. Lection earned her PhD in Integrative and Biomedical Physiology from Pennsylvania State University. She was primarily advised by Dr. Erika Ganda and co-advised by Dr. Adrian Barragan. Her doctoral research focused on the role of the reproductive microbiome in the development of reproductive diseases in animals, particularly in dogs, horses, and cattle. This research is integral to her current clinical work, as she aims to improve diagnostic methods and offer innovative treatments through the use of next-generation sequencing technologies.

    Dr. Lection’s expertise is in reproductive medicine, and she is committed to advancing the understanding of how the reproductive microbiome affects reproductive health across multiple species. Her work bridges clinical practice and research, with a strong focus on enhancing reproductive health and disease management through cutting-edge scientific approaches.

    Dr. Lection's professional background is complemented by her deep passion for improving animal care. As a faculty member at NC State, she continues to shape the field of theriogenology through her clinical work and research, striving to make a lasting impact on animal health and reproductive medicine.
